Is it just me?

This is where you can rest a while and discuss anything - doesn't have to be steel guitar related!

Nahr look ere - the London speak 'as expanded aht to the 'ome cahnties. No daht that phoney Cockerney accents 'ave become quite populerr among the younger generation.

I fink dat de English language 'as bin 'ighjacked and is nuffink like de queen's English.

I am always amused by the lines from Chas & Dave's song, where they rhyme 'Bluffin' with Nuffin'. Classic. I blame Dick Van Dyke for the increase in popularity of the Cockney accent.

I'm ok with accents, bit of colour as they say. Well, most of them anyway. Some are downright ugly. I cringe at the way Wayne Rooney mangles words. My rant was more about the choice of words, how nobody chooses the right ones any more, proper grammar has become "optional" and generally people's vocabulary has shrunk. The TV has to take some of the blame at least: they never say "and" or "also" now, it's always "plus", which the ad men presumably think is more "dynamic". Sheeeshh. :?
