Is it just me?

This is where you can rest a while and discuss anything - doesn't have to be steel guitar related!

Is it just me?

Postby Will C » Tue Nov 18, 2014 4:08 pm

Or has English undergone a sudden change? Within the last year or so I became aware, almost overnight, of people randomly beginning a sentence with the word "so". "How did you get to work today?" "So, I used the bus".

I always thought the word had a job to do, as in "because of what you just said (or what just happened), as a result, this happened/was said." "You hit me, so I hit you back", and so on. But not any more apparently. So look out for it, it crops up every where. So act now before the lunatics infect the rest of us!

So I rest my case....

"What I Mean" is a fraze used by many including sports, government, and many other notable persons to start a reply to a question, and it make's me think they are half wit's who can't think ahead, drives me crazy, "Know What I Mean".

My theory is that, when the trendy lefties got control of our schools and ruled that there was no such thing as "wrong", all the old rules (which worked so well) went out of the window. We are now dealing with second generation idiots.... Alan, you are absolutely right, but I haven't had a good rant for ages, so there. <raspberry noise>

How about the " fink and fort" brigade.

I sometimes say to youngsters, " when you say fink and fort have you ever fort that people might fink you're fick ?"

They look at me in a puzzled way, then thump me........
