MCI D10 in Leeds!!

Postby tonewheelkev » Wed Oct 15, 2014 1:07 pm

Up for sale....and shortly to appear on Gumtree...is my MCI D10. :(
Suspect I will be sticking to 'Spanish' and 'Hawaiian' style from now on.... :D

Bought this as an 8 + 6 from our very own Mr Byng around 18 months ago. Since then, I've removed the C6 neck 'vertical' lever, and disconnected the C6 LKL lever....although this might still be seen in the pics.

So, this is now operating as an 8 + 4...but obviously, all bits removed will stay with the guitar.

Emmons setup on the E9 neck.

Ken had already upgraded both necks with adjustable return springs and retainer brackets from PSGparts in the USA (http://www.psgparts.com/Anchor-Spring-A ... egoryId=-1)

The MCI is fitted with BL705 Chrome surround PUPS....yes those!!...and tonally these guitars are considered excellent by people who know about these things!!! :guitar:

I know that Buddy Emmons recorded his Chritmas album on one of these MCI's.....and this album is considered by some, to be the best he ever recorded!!!

Hhhmmmnnn.....now somewhere, I recall seeing some vids of Buddy playing an MCI at a festival here in the UK in the 80's........Oh yes....here's one :

....and another :

...... come to think of it....this guitar has BE written on the underside.....could it be...could it be the very one!!!???

OK...so having established that :D ....someone could be getting a real piece of PSG history here :!:

I'm informed that I should be describing the condition as good....it is 30 years old...and it comes with the original case.

I've had to size the pics down a lot to post 'em here....but can PM any specific one's that might help!!

Looking to get back what I put into this at £1400....come and have a look if you're passing leeds sometime!!

Will shortly be putting up other stuff....including my Winsteel SD10, Peavey Nashville 1000 (+Transformer), Hilton Pedal (+Hilton bracket)

This is one great sounding guitar.

Kev - put the levers back on. Potential buyers may be put off by the fact that they have to fit the levers back on the guitar. You know how they were fitted. This is a bargain price for a D10.

Is that lowering and raising the 3rd? It may help your sale to give us the copedant ;)

A wonderful pro guitar for someone out there. It sounds just great - very Emmons-like, and won't break the bank. One of the best sounding guitars to pass through my hands and if it wasn't for the fact that I reached ownership of 8 pedal steels at one point I would still have it. The combination of a mica guitar and those chrome surround 705's is hard to beat in my view. :) :)

Blimey!

I am surprised this ain't been bought yet.
Pickups are worth $300 alone.

I can see Jason Lynch playing this....
CD's and individual tracks available to download from iTunes and CD Baby.
