George Hamilton dies

Postby Ken Byng » Thu Sep 18, 2014 10:08 am

It was announced this morning that George Hamilton 1V has passed away following a heart attack a few days ago. Never the greatest of singers, he nonetheless achieved great popularity in the UK in the 1970's. I played backup to George a few times, and he was always charming and gentle. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

RIP George

I had the honour of playing steel for George a few years ago, he was a very generous and gentle man, I was the only member of the band who got a call out when I was playing a steel break, and I can hear him yet.
Rest in peace George

Indeed very sad news. I had the pleasure of meeting George on several times through the 70s and 80s and done an interview with him for a country music magazine. Once he met you he would not forget the meeting. The tall gentleman RIP George.
