Thanks to Henry Senior for drawing my attention to this.

Missing At Sea has the most original steel riff I've heard in a long time, maybe ever.

I liked her first album a lot, reckon this one'll be on my to buy list.

Didn't expect it to be everybodies taste, but isn't 'tosh' a little harsh.
I think it's interesting to see artists use steel outside typical bounds.

Sorry Alan. Didn,t mean to upset you. Yes, of course it,s great to see steel guitar promoted in other genres of music. That can only be a good thing. As for "Tosh". Maybe I was being a bit harsh. But was not to my taste anyway. Then,of course there will be music I like,but you might not like. Nothing we can do about that. There,s nothing wrong with that either. That,s why I asked also what others thought of it. Either way, let,s not fall out over this. So guys, who else likes or dislikes it ??? Regards Graham

Whilst it is clever and original, the whole thing was a bit obscure for me. Can I call it "New Wave"?

Interesting, very Danish/Icelandic. My other half is into Danish music, so I've heard quite a lot of it. Some of it I like, some is a bit dark for me. I quite like this, although it's a bit repetitive, I probably wouldn't buy the album.

Some of the sounds she is getting sounds like she is using midi on the pedal steel to play virtual instruments, but it may just be the effects chain she's using.

However, more power to her arms, Icelandic band Sigur Ros use pedal steel on occasion to good effect.

Maybe I'll buy her album for my wife, she might even start to like pedal steel music

Not to my taste, shades of Susan Alcorn, again not to my taste, but if you like that style that's fine.

I think a load of old tosh is a bit harsh.

Whether you like it or not it's an interesting application of the pedal steel.
I think the loop she does sounds cool with the mixture of open strings, slides and hammers and wide intervals. The melody itself isn't the most interesting thing but works ok on top of the loop.

First time I've seen a pedal steel player use a looper.

I think to say it's a bit 'Susan Alcorn' is basically to bracket anything that's a bit contemporary on pedal steel together.

I saw Susan play a couple of years ago. In my opinion she is a better player than Maggie but much more radical.
Her performance was more in the free jazz vein whereas the piece we're talking about has more in common with math rock(horrible expression!)

I think they're very different.

I like it! I think it could have developed more but I think it's a nice idea.
