Ted, you will be in the big league, when you acknowledge that the Emmons Push pull (in the hands of the master) is still the best sounding steel in the world ! LOL  :o
Now, this here Rains, Not yet got to the 4th pedal as I am waiting for some "Star clips" that retain the rods... but here is a clip on what it sounds like .... apologies for the bridge, have not played that number for ages :? went to pieces.....

Thanks JD. One of my all time favourite toons.

Ted - you look naturally good behind the Emmons. If only the push pulls had the pedal action of the Infinity!!

You know sound is such a strange thing I sometimes wonder if we all hear it differently?
Most of the things that turned me on to Steel Guitar like John Hughey`s album "On and off stage" and a hundred others were all played on an Emmons P/Pull and although I can see some mechanical advantages in the modern all pull guitars its all at the cost of a little bit of tone and heart of the instrument, some of the all pulls sound almost clinical clean but that does not do it for me.there is a reason why all new makes of steel seem to get compared to an Emmons Push pull and why it is the "Benchmark" in tone that others strive to achieve IMHO. My old Emmons rings like a bell even before you plug it in... but I have seen guitars here that without amplification sound as flat as a witches tit! (am I allowed to say that on here?)
I do believe I heard it said that Papa John was trying to find and reclaim his old p/pull right up to the time he left us........
And how many of the other old Pro`s still play them..... Gonna make a cuppa tea now >>>>>>>
