Postby Ken Byng » Fri May 16, 2014 7:44 pm

Extremely clean Carter 8 + 5, black top and grey birdseye maple. Day setup. Fitted with George L E66's. Case finished in black carpet, and is in fair to good condition. The guitar is 9.75 condition. Please PM me for price. This is a very nice guitar and some of the Brits who were in Dallas this year heard it in action.

Thanks Malcolm.

Here is a shot of the undercarriage, plus one of the machine head assembly and the modern plastic logo that has replaced the white decal on the front of the guitar.

Class guitar, class sound. I must admit I am a great fan of Carter guitars. They were designed by one of the
greatest builders in the industry, Mr Bud Carter. I have heard this guitar in action, and beleive me, it sounds
incredible, although the guy sitting behind it had something to do with it. Highly recommended. I played a Carter
for he last 3 yrs, and loved it.

Thank you so much to Spence, Malcolm, Ted and particularly Damir, whose photos I have have used in connection with this sale. Damir is a great photographer as well as being a great steel player based in Nashville, and is a super person to deal with. Damir, our members here thirst for steel guitar information, so please post anything that you might think of interest to us Brits.

With regard to the guitar, it served me really well. I was invited to play at this year's Dallas Steel show, and rather than take one of my guitars over and back to and from the USA I bought it from Damir with a view to playing it on the show. Damir only sells ultra clean guitars, so I knew that it would be in excellent condition. Jeff Surratt very kindly serviced it and changed the pedals to Day for me ahead of the show, and Buck Reid brought it from Nashville to Dallas bless him. You can see that it has passed through some illustrious hands in its time. :D

One of our forum members has shown an interest in this guitar, and I have more info going out to him today. :D

thanks Malcolm, it is great to be here, I didn't know about this forum until today, so as soon as I found out, I decided to join. I am also a member at the French steel guitar forum, but I don't participate in it, because I don't speak or read French, unfortunately, I wish I did... I spent many years playing steel guitar around Europe, mostly Germany,Austria,Italy,Slovenia and Croatia, and was even talking to the fellow named Joe Hotchkins (spl?) in the early 90's in Germany, who was an English country music star at that time, about working for him. I miss European country music scene, but unfortunately, it seems to me that, there is not much work for a steel players over there, so I better stay where I am, and let you guys do your thing over there lol ...

Ken,you should have asked Jeff and Buck to sign your guitar, you would have gotten 1000 dollars more for it...
