One more photo courtesy of Barry - me! I've put the same filter on the pic on but it really was as hot as it looks - never had to retune my pulls that much before.

Thanks as always for the write up Nick, I agree, everyone is noticeably improving - or getting more confident - which is half the battle and the whole point of doing these sessions. I can recommend doing a solo turn, it's a bit nerve wracking having five steel players watch your hands(!) but it definitely makes you practice and it's really good to get feedback from the group. So anything you're working on, let's hear it.

We talked about doing Yesterday as a group effort. Here is the Emmons/Kleinow version from Suite Steel for inspiration/intimidation. Not suggesting we copy this arrangement slavishly but if we each learn simplified chord backing and simplified melody then we can make it work quite nicely in the round.

Good stuff Jon. Key is F, I think. Would a Band in a Box backing help, do you think, or does the song's structure, with verses and chorus as they are arranged, make a repeating backing track a bit too complicated to follow?
I could work on a straightforward chord sequence to circulate, then it's up to folks to work on the verse and chorus structure for themselves... Or are we getting a bit too far ahead of ourselves, given the way we can slaughter much simpler songs!! (Altogether now, 'Together again....' ;-)

Definitely without a backing track for this one. Practice along to the original Beatles though. A simplified chord chart would be great Nick.

Hi Guys,

Yes it was another great meeting, Thanks Nick for organising and Jon for the pics and Tab.
I'm pretty wacked after three weekends of steel, great fun though.
I'll put together a BIAB backing track for 'Yesterday' in F over the next couple of evenings.
We can use it (or not as the case may be), at least we'll have the option.
See y'all on the 20th July

Hi Guys,

If anyone wants them I've put backing tracks for Yesterday (in F) on my shared folder.
There's a full song backing track, Also one long and one short Round Robin track.
In addition there's a Chord Sheet on there - Have Fun.
