Help - snapped 'nipple'!

Postby henrybainbridge » Tue Jul 16, 2013 8:52 pm

Hi Guys,
Hopefully I've managed to attach a photo to this. I was playing my ZB today and the nipple (I imagine this isn't the technical term) that attaches the pedal to the rod sheared straight off. Would anybody be able to make me a replacement? I'm happy to pay!
Thanks,
H

Gerry Hogan appears to have replacement ball joints on his accessories page.

Thanks Will and Jimmy, PM on it's way to you Jimmy.

Any idea how I can get out the part of the ball stud that is still in the pedal? It's sheared just inside the shaft on the pedal so I can't grab it with pliers...

I've attached a pretty blurry photo of the problem.

Go to a tool shop and buy a set of " Easy Outs " You drill a hole in the broken part then screw in the easy out, they have a left hand thread so as you screw it in,when it tightens up, it extracts your broken bolt.
Blanton D10, Justice s10, Fender Acoustasonic 150, 1 Brain, 2 Hands, 2 Knees, & 2 Feet.

Henry, you could go and buy a set of stud extractors to do the job, but before you spend money on tools you may never use again try this. I had the same thing happen when I had my ZB and because the thread in the pedal goes all the way through the pedal this is what I did I used a small drill to drill a hole all the way through the stud I used a pillar drill so as not to mess the threads up,then i used something with a slightly bigger point to tap into the hole a few drops of warm oil and the stud undid very easily. Give it a go it may save you some money,
