OK, got bored of the sound of my ukulele so moved onto C6 lap steel, which I've been enjoying for about a year. Found some great tabs and lessons, mainly from Mike Neer's site
http://www.mikeneer.com/lapsteelin/Saw a Sho Bud Maverick on eBay, and without reading up on it at all, paid £360 quid and so it's now mine. I understand now that they aren't exactly held in high regard by everyone (though some leap to it's defence), but it's what I'm working with until I can ever afford an upgrade.
Very basic music theory, but not practice. Just got myself Winnie Winston's PSG book, and a Hal Leonard / Johnnie Helms tab songbook, so that'll keep me busy for a while.
Based top end of Derbyshire, not far from the Swizzels Matlow sweet factory! Illustrator, signwriter and parent of two young 'uns, so this guitar isn't going to get as much time spent on it as I'd like, but hey ho...
Many thanks,
Jim
Sho-Bud Maverick, Peavey Bandit, and a cable.
