Who played steel?

Postby Will C » Thu Apr 25, 2013 8:30 am

A long shot, can't find anything myself, but does anyone know who played steel on "Answer Me" by Barbara Dickson, released in about 1976 on RSO?

I'm guessing it may have been Gordon Huntley, but no way of knowing.

Gordon did it on Top of the pops for sure ! I was there with him at the time but not sure if he played it on the original recording.......
I was also with him at TOTP`s When he played "misty" for Stevens but he was not on the original studio recording of that one... but he played it perfectly ...if memory works twas with the "Johnny Pearson Orchestra"

Yo, John
It sounds to much like Gordon to be anybody else to me but I can always be wrong !
Who else could imitate him like that , any ideas ? :)

Answer Me? BJ Cole on album and single, Pete Wilshere, Gordon, John Edmed and others all have done TV and live tours/shows with her over the years.
Misty? yes! Gordon on TOTP, completely different arrangement to original (session arranged by Arthur Greenslade Kent based producer)
Gordons playing was excellent as usual but nothing like original played by JD Manness on both American and UK released single and album.
A re-release of Misty by Ray Stevens (circa late 80s) used an unlisted US player.
Hope this helps Will.
