Here endith the first lesson.
Nothing like starting from the ground up and that’s where we started, as this gent was all of 5’ 2” in his shoes, add to that his age was 72 and he knew about 4 chords on the guitar.
I lowered the steel down to the pedal bar and rubber feet and lent him my seat as his knees were just catching the knee levers.
Still had to lean the steel slightly toward him, but we got there.
My opinion, slight thou it is, if your not sitting comfortably behind the steel and in control of all your appendages, you’ll end up making it a very hard lesson.
I left him working on the right hand picking and blocking tech.
Working on the thumb only and running up and down on, 8-6 and 5. 6-5 and 4. Up and down, up and down, no pedals just yet, just need him to get the right hand where it’s comfortable with the third finger tucked under to cover the gap in the crook of the hand.
Then he need’s to work the same move but with the thumb and second finger on, 8-6---6-4---4-2.
Some player’s use there thumb and first finger, and don’t tuck their third finger under the hand, but as this is the way I play, what you see is what you get.
Let’s see how he get’s no on my next visit.
