The End of an Era

Postby ZBSD-10 » Sat Sep 11, 2010 1:13 pm

A bit of sad news , ESE Elsctronics, ex- ZB Guitars UK, run by Eric Snowball is calling it a day, I
spoke to him this morning and he told me that the bussiness will be finishing but did'nt say
when.
A sad loss of a company which started most of us on the British Steel scene ! :( :( :(
I think we all wish Eric all the best for the future whatever he's goin to do.
Cheers !

Very sad news. Eric did much for steel guitar in the UK. I owe him a huge debt, as I suspect so too do many people in the UK. I hope that he enjoys his retirement. He started off with a guitar/amp music shop that also did amp repairs, and diversified into steel guitars and sound system manufacture and rental. There are not many steel players of my generation who have not made a purchase of some sort from Eric, and spent many an enjoyable day being insulted in his store. (In a humourous way of course).

One of Eric's delights would be to get an unsuspecting visiting steel player to play Danny Boy, much to the vocal disgust of his staff upstairs, who he knew had heard it a thousand times or more. They would shout down the stairs at whoever was playing it "NOT BLOODY DANNY BOY AGAIN - IS THAT ALL YOU KNOW!!" Eric used to kill himself laughing
