What instrument or amp have you regretted selling?

I have several. I had a 1930's Dobro that I sold back in the 70's to buy a ShoBro guitar. The Dobro was by far the better sounding of the 2 instruments. I bought an original Burns Marvin guitar in 1966 that would be worth a fair bit now, and I sold a bakelite Rickenbacker lap steel for peanuts about 25 years ago. If only I had kept all of the instruments and amps that I've had over the years. Mind you, I would probably need a much bigger house by now.

In the late 90's I had a 1955 Gibson 225 which I traded for some other equipment that I needed at the time. It had a superb tone and I've regretted it ever since. I think every musician has made that sort of mistake at least once.

A 1965 Gibson 335. I sold it for £180 because I needed the cash. DOH!!!!!

My big gaff was parting with that Barney Kessel, ha! looking at that shot I wish I had even kept the strap!

4/ gordon smith telecaster, awesome, what was i thinking?
5/ mesa boogie 1 x12 jbl extention cab mahogany with basket weave fret cloth, more than awesome
i feel so depressed now, oh did i mention my red sho bud ldg, and my session 400 from the 70s, and my fender super 60 all valve combo, i could go on!

I'm sure he won't mind me disclosing this, but fellow Southampton steel player Tom Bannister once sold a ShoBud Super Pro D10 in order to fund a state of the art digital drum machine. That drum machine is now worth about 5 bob and is state of the arc, and the ShoBud would have probably appreciated slightly. Bad move or what! He has regreted selling it ever since.

I sold a Peavey Nashville 400 about 12 years ago. That was really stupid. I'm considering selling my Hilton volume pedal. I'm not sure of the wisdom of this but I've recently gone back to using my old Goodrich pedal.

Just out of interest, can I ask why you're selling the Hilton - is there something we should know?

There's nothing wrong with the Hilton volume pedal. When I got it last year I was fed up with dodgy potentiometers and breaking strings. The Hilton got me away from these woes and I was happy. All I want to say here is to suggest you try a side by side comparison between the Hilton and ye olde Goodrich. See which one you prefer. That's what you should know before you make any decision.
