Actually, beside the 'get me through the gig' mod with the mole grips, it is a wonder that Emmons never devised a method of fixing bell crank pullers to their push pull guitars without necessitating the removal of crossrods and pull rods. Modern guitars facilitate this by the use of square crossrods and clip on pullers that can be screwed into position without removing the crossrod. Your mod, no matter how Heath Robinson it appears, could be developed to replace broken levers much more easily.
