Ted , this was the last time I saw a Red laquer LDG with polished alloy fretboard, (me and mine) Not sure who but someone once told me this resides in Ireland somewhere, great guitar , great memories.
I'm sure that one will go soon.
Dave.

Dave, If my memory serves me well, Im pretty sure I bought that guitar from Ron Bennett, I then sold
it to a steel player in County Down, who then sold it on to a steel player in the South of Ireland. I had
a great conversation with Mr Paul Franklin (Snr) in March of this year, and he told me that he built all
the "specials" at Sho-Bud during his time at the factory between 1974 - 1979 Only a handfull of Red
and Black LDGs were sold in USA, all the rest were sent to the Sho-Bud shop in London, so they are a
rare model. The one I have for sale plays really well, great tone and super pedal action.

Ted, That figures with Ronnie, I know these steels move from area to area but I did sell it to a begginer guy in Liverpool area around 80/81, if my grey matter serves me well, the guy worked in TV/film production.
Your smack on with the Sho Bud London connection also, I had it new from John Edmed, was a cracking guitar loved it, was signed by Lloyd personally when working the Nashville Cavalcade tour. Only let it go because I missed C6th neck (couldnt afford two steels in those days, well! cant now lol)

Amazing how these steels have travelled, what stories they could tell.
regards
Dave.

Dave, I seem to remember seeing a red LDG with metal neck down on the south coast at a festival many tears ago.The band was Welsh and think they were called Clovis or something like that,It was first time I had seen a metal neck on a Shobud, and was given close scrutiny by myself and Dave Kirk who was also playing at the event .Sorry Ted stealing your thread.

Mal, Dave (Kirky) would remember my LDG we lived a few miles from each other way back, played hell of a lot together back in late 70s/80s, we worked loads of gigs with different local bands, Dave was mostly on guitar in those days (cracking lead player) also played good steel. Happy days.

Once again, sorry Ted for hijacking the post.
