This all boils down to what we hear in our own head, and Slim is dead right, as we all said at sometime, "at our age still searching for that sound" I will hang to my Steel King for as as long as possible because I have found my sound, and I like it.

yep i think the Yamaha is my fave at the mo, although I like the 15" speaker on the Roland Super Cube.
And when I finally get this U12 I think I'll need it.

I reckon it should be possible to get a reasonable tone out of any amp that does not distort at your playing volume.
I've used quite a few supplied backline amps and most I've been able to set fine, a mesa boogie was marginal, a unexpected surprise was an old 2x12 Marshal combo that sounded absolutely brilliant, even better than my Fender Twin.
Oddly enough, for me the most awkward to set up is the Peavey Nashville 112, I can get it to sound fine but getting the sweet point took some time and experimentation.
I'm sticking with my ZT, set treble & bass neutral turn it up.. light loud what else would I need.
