Blind River Scare at Hay-On-Wye and Welsh Cider Festival

Postby saddletramp » Fri Jun 01, 2012 7:18 pm

Got a busy weekend ahead. I'm playing pedal and non-pedal with Blind River Scare at How The Light Gets In Festival tomorrow in Hay-On-Wye at lunchtime. Then it's a quick costume (and instrument) change to play dobro with the Garth Mountain Boys in the evening.

Back to steel and amp on Sunday for the Welsh Perry and Cider Festival at Blaengawney Cider Farm, Hafodyrynys, NP11 5AY. Hectic, but I love it! 8-)

Hope the festival's inside or in a marquee. It's piddling down here in Devon. Have a great weekend playing, great mixture. Out of interest, what dobro do you have?

Hi Ruby,

I play a Beard R Mahogany model. I bought it secondhand a couple of a years ago off Gumtree. I have a 1982 (?) OMI Dobro as well, which I'm keeping for when I can afford a Fishman pickup and Aura system.

Saturday was one of the strangest gigs I've ever played. How The Light Gets In is a music and philosophy festival with a mixture of debates, lectures and musical performances. I checked in to hospitality alongside Nigel Lawson, and David Blunkett, whose guide dog took an unnatural interest in my Music Man amp :o

Saturday night's gig with The Garth Mountain Boys and today's gig with Blind River Scare at the cider festival were both soggy. It bucketed last night and drizzled constantly today. Luckily we were protected from the worst of it under covers, but it really thinned the crowd at the festival. I felt very sorry for the promoters.
