Malcolm wrote:Geoff, I do not know if GFI do that on pro models, but even if they do it strikes me that even Teflon on Teflon still would wear out, just think of your so called non stick pans, how long does the pan actually stay non stick?Obviously if manual says do not lubricate then better to follow that instruction, but I think at some stage some lubrication would eventually be needed.Perhaps if the guys who sell GFI down in Morecombe read this they could shed some light on it.

Hi Malcolm, you are correct, at one point on the GFI student I had to replace the teflon pieces as they started to come loose and fall off, I had to dismantle the changer to do this, lucky it was a very simple changer! Having said that I also used a drop of sewing machine oil in the changer. TBH I used to lubricate the whole guitar as it used to get a bit "sticky" :?

Malcolm, you were quite right to question my manual. Although it states that no lubrication will be required during it's lifetime there are two instances amongst the support info where they recommend applying oil!!!

Once again the gurus of this forum share their, much appreciated wisdom. Thanks gents.

Yep he had some nifty bits and pieces, but saw on American Forum about six months ago that he was giving up.There are various pics on forum, so if you have any engineering mates ( a bloke called Bob comes to mind) you could always get him to knock them up for you.

I said 10% and no more Malcolm!! ;) ..... Nifty ideas are great Danny but nifty playing is what we're after and you are currently doing rather well in that department! Yip I noticed ' yer man' had chucked his gizmo's for now! Mind you had you both been at January's meeting you could have had an I phone bracket for your PSG and bluetooth direct to the desk courtesy of JC!..Fabulous! And to think some folks think we still have gas lamps up here and a 'lavy on the stairheid'!! ... I suggest y'all come to where it's at! ......Auld farts w' Fresh ideas! and 'Good old Country Music'! If it's 'The Hagg' or you can shuffle it! We'll play it all night long! .... Sorry this about the need for maintenance! Well aren't we all!!! :guitar: :guitar:

I don't know about nifty, Bob. Shifty, or a word that's very like shifty is more like it, from where I'm sitting.

Can't wait for this month's meet.

"Should that not be a double v in lavvy ?".....c'mon Donny, don't be shifty, maybe Bob was burstin' and in a hurry!
