If the thread is stripped could'nt you re-tap the hole next size up and fit a slightly larger screw in it ?

Shakey, do you actually have a pulley as per the one in the pic you posted ? if so I will buy it off you, converting an old pedal from rack and pinnion to pulley and string.Malcolm

Frankie, If you had put your specs on, read my last post you would have noticed my intention to drill and tap.
I'm worried as just yesterday a 'Glaswegian dicky bird' told me that anyday now you are to be allowed back into Wales (no one has asked my permission mind, and nothing has been raised in the Welsh Assembly) this after you and lynn have 'buggered up' the Greek economy. I hope when you arrive youll be treated as illegal immigrants, given a 5 bedroom house (rent free) complete with recording studio,so that you can follow your calling, a grand a week in handouts, etc etc, lets see how you manage on that?

Seymour announced about 18 months ago in one of his newsletters that he had found a carrier who made it economically viable to ship to Europe. My mate Tom Bannister has bought a load of items from him, including a seat and a Bobro pedal. Shipping costs have been expensive, as too have the the dreaded import duties/taxes and VAT.

Any of us players in Europe who plan to visit Steel Guitar Nashville should post here to see if there are any smaller items that we can bring back for fellow players. I normally get a shopping list from Dave Wheelhouse when I go there, and have brought Cobra Coil strings back for Billy Murdoch.

Ken, Fully understand what you saying, and to be honest sending small items from States to UK could be a nightmare (mind you!loads manage on e bay) my dissapointment is the total lack of response , having run very successfull family business for many years (now run by my kids) I learnt from the start that customer service has to be #1 priority.
As regards Bobbe and his business style , no probs for me, he wont miss my few $s worth of business and I will just move along.

I am fine thanks. I would have thought that anyone with a lathe or a milling machine could knock up exactly what you need in a few minutes. I have got an Emmons pedal so I'll see if anyone I know could make some pulleys.

Guys, thanks for all the advice and offers etc but!! I am going into the heavy engineering business, over the weekend I am going to drill and tap the existing pulley,yes!! I know its a massive undertaking, especially for a Brummie, but firmly believe it can be done (Pauline is not pleased, apparantly she has been asking me to change two lightbulbs since xmas)
Today I have assembled all the the bits and pieces,dug out my drill bits, tap and die set and around about 11.00a.m. tomorrow work will commence. Not sure if the work will go through the night into Sunday but I will be prepared for that. Not difficult as Pauline says 'if you go into that 'bleedin' workshop pi**ing about with that bloody pedal when all these jobs need doing around the house, then you can sleep in there' theres support and understanding hey lads.

You've got my support Dave.
Don't forget to wear eye protectors and white overalls when you are drilling the pulley, and tell the missus not to interrupt you when you are tapping the hole as it is highly complex and precision stuff. Forget those piddly little jobs around the house - this is real men's work, and a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!!
