Hi Members,
Just thought I would introduce myself. I'm Jack all the way from Lancashire. My interest in PSG began when I bought a record by Lloyd Green and was knocked out by his tone and technique. I recently found David Hartley' on youtube and IMHO the UK's Lloyd Green. My present PSG is a Springfiield lazy deck and after e-mailing Bob Newby re tuning problems he suggested investing in another steel is my best option. I am now planning to order CURNOW and hopefully make some progress with my playing

Hello Jack, welcome. There's lots of good posts and clips on here, also lots of experienced players with advice for learners, I get lots of help to learn new stuff and it's nice to be in touch with others who play. I live out in the sticks and the internets good to find things (you tube etc) but theres nothing like talking to other players to get on better.

Thank goodness for the internet it beats trying to copy things of CD's and in my case records or reel to reel tape. You sure need all the help you can find when you decide to try and play the PSG. I'm always surprised how many people in the U.K play pedal steel. Must be a best kept secret. Good to have a chance to chat to other players via the british steelies society.

How long have you been playing PSG? At the moment I'm working my way through the Winnie Winston book and finding some great help on the society forum.

Hi and welcome. As far as I know Jim Kerr might still be around to help sort your Springfield (anybody know - he was posting on the Euro. s.g. forum in 2009). Is it one that tunes the pulls underneath the guitar? What are the problems you are having? There may be additional help here that can make it work, even if it's not for you. Best wishes, Tony.

Hi Tony,
I ran a small music shop for 32yrs and trying to find a range of pedal steels to stock in the late 70's early 80's proved difficult. I eventually found Springfield and bought the lazy deck pro 2 de luxe model. Unfortunatly I had very little knowledge about the changer mech on PSG's and on this model they have used welding rod for the pedals and levers raises and lowers. This means the changers are not very positive and the "C" pedal is inconsistant with the tuning. I think it would need a complete rebuild of the changer mech to sort it out. It seems a shame that all these problems where never addressed in production.
I hope to check out the PSG gathering in Yorkshire.

I`m a lapsed steel player.Just got back into it after 30 years.The Winnie Winston book is good.When I started all them years ago that was the only tuition I had.With the internet now there is a lot of good stuff that will keep you busy for years.Check out Mickey Adams Youtube channel and John Davis from the forum here and probably loads of people I havn`t had time to see
If you can get the Mickie Adams book this will be in my opinion the best investment besides your steel you will ever make.

Thanks for your help. I will certainly check out the sites you mentioned and look at buying the book. You always need someone to point you in the right direction when your trying to learn anything new. It can save you many hours of frustration.
