Well Mrs Sears certainly has her fans here. I won't upset anyone else by making comments about her vocals - we all have different tastes after all. Unfortunately I am not a great lover of female singers per se, but the ones I do like don't cause me any problems when they hit a higher register. Julie London, Peggy Lee, Diana Krall, Dinah Washington - all wonderfully smooth singers. On the country side of things, the only one who really rings my bell was the late Dottie West. She had real soul in her voice.

As for the wive's taste - maybe they can hear higher frequencies better than gnarled old fogey's like me whose ears have been shot through loads of live gigs and sessions over the years. My missus likes Dolly Parton and doesn't find her voice at all offensive in any way.

Just finally, I will say that overall the Time Jumpers are fantastic regardless of the line up. Yes I too have spoken to Dawn a few times and she is very charming and nice. If I was the sound engineer at the Station Inn I would provide a more sympathetic mike for her. My last comment on the matter. ;)

Agree with Ken on this. Good singer, nice person, but voice is shrill and piercing.

We're all entitled to an opinion, that is what a Forum is about.

I think it is great to hear a singer that really has a voice that I can separate from all those "streamlined" voices that pop's up every year on the country music scene. Once upon a time there were singers that had something special in the voice and sound, today all that's count is the money and that makes no room for an induvidual voice/sound. Just my humble opinion 8-)

The Guys are right, everyone has different tastes and opinions and it would be a very dull world if we were all the same.My views on Dawn are already documented previously in this post, but knowing that I share this opinion with Vince Gill swings it for me! This guy has used her for support/backing /duets and being that he only works with the best it seems to me she must rank in there with the best, just my humble opinion.

I was watching an old rerun of 'top of the pops' circa 1964 tonight, with Judith Durham and the Seekers, and once again marvelled at her vocal ability, never once did she do that artificial 'catch' so beloved of country singers, and which I find so irritating.

Richard, if any of those famous springs of yours go while you are playing you may well end up with a definite catch in your voice (probably a few octaves higher). Keep up the good work, always look forward to your posts, have a great Christmas and New Year.

I think Dawn is a terrific singer, found her vids on youtube the other day and spend the next several hours mesmerised, great vocals and fabulous musicians all.

I have just listened again to Sweet Memories with DS and John Hughie. IT IS FAULTLESS. In my humble opinion.
