Advice on a seat for gigs

Hello,

just wondering what forumites use as a seat for the steel when playing gigs? I know there are specialised seats that can be bought, but these seem to be quite bulky and expensive. Can anyone recommend a lightweight, adjustable and portable seat?

I use a "Box " type padded seat which is not really bulky when You consider it carries all My bits and pieces,Leads,picks.tools,vol pedal and power adaptors etc.,

Hi Chris,
My seat is an Elite steel guitar seat which I purchased when visiting Dallas some years ago.I really cannot remember how much I paid,somewhere in the £100 region.
Not long ago there was a discussion on seats made in the U.K. Perhaps someone will chip in with some info.
My Ole pickled brain aint what it used to be.

Cannot help you with the Peavey but I can tell you Baz Weston is building Pac-a-seats and they are very good (quite like the Walker seats) but a bit more room inside`em. Baz can be reached on 02085336574

I use a Pearl drumstool with backrest.
However, I have a Quick Lock BX 14 for sale, VGC apart from a couple of scratches and a small tear on the front covering. £20 plus £5 pp if you are interested. ( or pick up from Southend on Sea , Essex.)

I have two - one made by ScottDixon and the other by a guy in Wales. Both have adequate storage and are comfortable, but the ScottDixon seats are now fully adjustable for height. To buy a seat from the States and get it sent over here is really expensive. It's important to get a comfortable seat if you are going to spend time sitting behind a pedal steel. A stiff Harris is no pleasure.
