Wanted: pedal steel around the £1k mark for a beginner

Postby jonah » Mon Dec 16, 2024 9:41 pm

On the look-out for a pedal steel for ideally sub £1k, I understand that it's not a lot for pedals steels but it's about all that I can afford right now, as a university student studying music I don't have a lot to spend haha. I'm looking for an E9 10 string 3 pedals 4 knee levers steel, something standard that I can get through the country songs I love on and hopefully eventually incorporate it a little in the recordings of the band I'm in. I'm quite new to the instrument so any advice would be hugely appreciated as well. Many thanks in advance!
Relax, and do your best.

Hi Jonah, I have my nice old Bennett that I'm about to advertise for sale. It's a 12-string universal but it is tuned as a ten-string in E9 in good condition. It has four pedals and four knee levers so easy enough to skip one of the pedals to start with and then install it later to do whatever tuning you want. It also comes with a great wheeled case. I'm asking for £1k. If you are still looking and are interested I can send you some photos. I'm located in Edinburgh so we'd need to get it couriered.
Cheers,
Bill

HI Billy thanks for the reply. I'm still on the hunt for sure, if you wouldn't mind sending some pictures I would highly appreciate that. Getting it couriered if I did purchase would be no problem, I'm quite busy so I'd probably have to do that somewhat regardless of location.
Many Thanks,
Jonah.

Hi Jonah, here's a couple of photos. I'd lent the guitar to a friend and hadn't shown him how to set it up properly so the pedals look a bit weird but when set up correctly it looks and plays lovely. If you buy it I'll set it up properly and take some detailed photos, particularly from below, for you.
I'll pm you too.
