advice wanted please

Postby telboy » Fri Aug 19, 2011 9:43 pm

i have 2 fender 15Rs, now i know these are only small and none of you would be seen dead with one :) BUT i like the sound on my lap...anyway, 1 of them is working fine, the other has dodgy pots and a switch broken so you need to use a screwdriver to turn the VOL up/down, but the speaker is ok! my question is! if i disconnected the speaker from the bad amp, then attached wires to said speaker, out the back, up into the back of good amp, then connect the wires to the speaker in good amp, so its like a mini stack! [does that make sense]...would this work dya think? cheers terry

I really miss Basil being on here to answer all those teccy ???`s that most of us struggle with!!!!
Terry tis not very clear to me what you are trying to do ....... are you just planning to use the duff amp as an extention speaker? My old Fenders are marked up "Total load 4 ohms" you can run them on 8 but you have to wind the volume up on the amp and to me it does`ent sound so good........ sorry I know so little about electronics but theres loads on here that do!!! come on you lot chip in>>>>>

having looked at the specs of the frontman 15r, it is given at 15 Watts into 8 Ohms w: one speaker
if i understand your question, you want to run 2 speakers on 1 amp right ?
you need to understand that your amp has a given impedance rating of 8 ohms which should not be varied
your amp is also given for only 1 speaker - it is not made for 2
so hooking up a 2nd to it is probably not going to be conclusive power & sound wise & will probably damage the amp
if i were you i'd run each one amp separate as they are w: the power switches on at all times & use a power strip w: an on/off switch to turn the rig on or off
