I have just learned from a call with Willie which came from Billy Murdoch that Richard has passed away, I have no details but it's safe to say I'm shocked and saddened at the news.

If you have any further info Billy do let us know.

Richard Jr Mailed Me this morning and said that His Father had passed last month although He did not mention a date.
Richard was 87 years old and.
Richard Jr said He was helping His Mother to clear a room of musical instruments,His Mum suggested mailing Me since I had sold Him a Sho Pro last year and asked what Richard had paid Me for the guitar.
I replied, passing on My condolences and I said that if I could be of any help He was to mail Me anytime.
I thought it would be very inappropriate to ask what items were for sale.

What, more sad news, I am so sorry to hear this.
As the comments already made Richard was your friendly English gentleman who adored the steel guitar and people associated with it.
God bless you my friend!

I'm very sorry to hear this. I bought a Fender Deluxe 8-string from Richard and he was a pleasure to deal with. I met him again at the Gower Bluegrass Festival and we talked about playing bluegrass dobro. He was a true gentleman.

I was saddened to hear of Richard's death, My only dealing with him was last year when I purchased a Peavey Nashville 112 from him and he was an absolute gent to deal with, it is ironic that he died last month because the amp died then as well.
I just received word this morning that the amp is now repaired.
I hope it is as good as it was prior to the fault.
Rest in peace Richard, yet another Brother of the Bar gone

I'm saddened by the news, I knew Richard from recording with him at his home studio, and seeing him at my gigs, he loved the pedal steel.

I'm very saddened by the loss of yet another UK steel player. Richard was an absolute gent and someone who was proud of getting the best of instruments on the market. I liked him very much.
