An abundance of resonators on UK daytime TV

Since assuming a much greater role as a carer at home earlier this year, I have been exposed to many of the UK's daytime TV offerings. I am surprised by the number of programmes that use background music featuring resonators, aka dobros. I am curious now to know who is providing this music and why it so prominent. Who is getting all this session work? I am intrigued. It must be more lucrative than finding cash in the attic, putting your home under a hammer or taking part in a bargain hunt for antiques. Has anybody else noticed this or am I going bonkers from not getting out enough?

I would've thought these programmes use library music, rather than shell out for session players, and I bet they're picking resonator tracks for their warm and homely character.
