I have on my desk an invoice for £135.oo due now for our site server hosting fee 2011-2012, if you all think I should foot the bill then tell me, otherwise I would appreciate some little contibutions, it doesn’t need to be much, 20 folk sticking in a fiver would cover two thirds of it.

When we kicked off last year the contributions covered our set up fees and 2010-2011’s hosting, the little that was left over was used towards the creation the BSS banner Roy uses at the steel festivals to promote our cause! Linking the site and the newsletter that Roy puts out! (attached for those who haven't seen it!)

I should point out that (as is usually the case) those contributions last year came from only 10% of the membership!

There is therefore no kitty presently other than one contribution to the site the other day ‘out the blue’! Gratefully received naturally!

This is not now, nor will ever be a profit making venture so I am not bothered about our ‘Ever Busy’ ‘For Sale Section’ not being funded but like all those who use it and haggle over a few quid I don’t think the burden of the above should entirely fall on me, I have my own sites to fund! It is not that £135 is a king’s ransom but it should be shared between us if 'we' want to maintain the site.

Maybe there could be a tiny donation system for items that are sold, as all web sites need on-going funding.

Indeed it does Ken but the trouble is when you say Charge! everybody runs for the trenches!!!

Please do as your Conscience Dictates!

Your shared assistance would be appreciated

Bob

I am happy to have donatad a small amount more than once and I have just sent another donation.
I enjoy this Forum immensly and I know several others do too, so get Your hands in Your pockets guys and do without a pint or two tonight.
I do'nt want to embarass anyone by saying how much their donation amounted to but it may be a good idea for admin to post a thank for Your donation Mr XXXX and We may shame others into dropping a couple of Quid in the pot.
Perhaps it would chase people away.
What do Y'all think.
I know We do recieve a thank You e mail from Admin after donating.
Best regards
Billy

Bob, I wont open up a hornets nest (at least If I do, I dont intend) You my boy should not have to ask for donations to keep this site up and running, the need for such support should be obvious to anyone.
Too many people use the site for their own ends,be it personal promotion or selling kit.
Articles/posts of Britsh Steel Guitarist interest get fewer and fewer. Lets have a mandatory subscription from all. If we want to keep the site up and running? lets get your hands in our pockets.
Dave.

Bob,
Do I make the cheque payable to you, or the BSS, and can you tell me the address where to send it.

If, understandably, you don't want to put the address on a public forum, PM it to me.

Just in case anyone is unaware of it - there has always been a link at the very bottom of every page to make either a single or recurring donation towards the forum running costs...the bit that says:-

If you wish to make a contribution towards the running costs of the British Steelies Society Forum, please click here.

That's all handled through Paypal, I'm sure Bob will help with alternative arrangements if you don't have / don't like Paypal.

i will happily send a contribution through paypal, i will check out the link that you have pointed out, but i do think there should be a set amount every year, for full members who wish to post, and that includes those that Dave pointed out, only ever posting to sell something, Bob, if you lead, we will follow, start a subscription, i know you dont like asking, i wasn't asked last year, and i am ashamed to say i never got round to contributing, i will more than make up for that now,
