Latest 8 strg Lap Steel

Postby WineRider » Wed Mar 03, 2021 1:45 pm

Ill health has kept me away from playing so to while away some time I've made another lap steel. This time it's from an ancvient piece of wild cherry, which was not too hard to hand route. Still useing the Newtone Hex nickle wound strings and eventually when I've got back to playing I promise to give you all a good laugh    with me playing something!!!!! The scale legnth is 622mm and it sports the Lace pickup and because of advice from several I have placed it closer to the bridge.

Thanks Ken, just need more seat time, and that will not be for at least another six weeks. I have found it amazing that three pieces of wood can have such diverse responses to wire twanging over it. You would have thought that after 75 years I should know something...but it just isn't like a racing motorcycle    I have stayed with Newtone Strings because they work for me and there is deffintely somlething about Lace 3.5" pickups. Like the last one I made Yvonne's influence has stayed and the Faux Abalone binding works well, the Walnut fret-board is another nice bit of timber. So to say I'm a happy bunny with this latest creation, would be an under-statement.

Sorry Uncle Roy, I was busy typing a reply to Ken...and everything I have said to Ken is applicable to you. I am getting there, but until I have sat down with an Orthopédique surgeon I won't know the full outcome. But to say it's unknown territory for me would be telling fibs, you only get back to where you were with hard work and in my case a really good wife to help.

Hello Maurice
Sorry to hear you are a bit under par. I see you still love Newtone strings. Spring is here and I hope you will feel better to enjoy the sun with a glass of wine

Hi Pop,
Yep I still rate them...I have tried so many, and the service is always high on my agenda. I love to chill with a glass or two, but the treatment I'm on precludes any alcohol...doesn't stop me filling a glass with water and raising it.
