Christmas pressie for the newbies

Postby JohnDavisStringsHere » Sun Dec 01, 2019 8:20 am

Here is a simple Christmas toon you can all play by Christmas (or before) and the Karaoke track I found to go with it :)

Nice one John. I'm short of inspiration and this has given me a lift.

Well Thank you Nick, that one tiny bit of feedback has justified my effort in putting that up there! I guess the other 32 that viewed it must have thought it $h1te and not worthy of comment........ apathy is the enemy here but I bet at least one other actually tried it.....

Apathy!!!! I posted a few lines about a resonator project I had come across when travelling in the USA back in July. Foolishly thinking it might be of interest to someone, however 240 odd views and not one ’friggin’ word in reply, actually I had more interest from a guy in the local rugby club who doesn’t even know what a resonator is, I guess that’s life and why I personally can’t be bothered contributing to or supporting the site any more.

Santa strikes again, but does he :censored: swear? I am definitely one of the 32 apathetic accused

I always check out your videos and I'm only to willing to comment on your efforts as I enjoy the clips, but only having a plank at present I'm at a slight disadvantage to your intended pupils, but still I'll give it a try sometime!

Your videos are easy to follow and for someone starting out in this " world " they are a big bonus and easier to follow than tablature, you display the timing and phrasing of each song, making it easier to learn the toon! :guitar:

When I first looked at the post I thought you had missnamed the tune, as I " woke up " in a winter wonderland , it was pure white outside and the temperature was minus 4, but you'll get the same tomorrow morning so you can name this tune what you like!
Cheers
Robert
No longer slummin, I’ve got a Mullen and a damn good amp as well,
they’ll be well played, if not played well, seat time alone must tell!

Robert you can almost always be relied on for a nice comment and a bit of encouragement I was not aiming at you just an observation that there is little reason for some of our really good players (and there are lots of them out there) to offer help to the newbies, I do it cos I have got a brass neck and I am used to peeing against the wind..... This post was not aimed at people like Nick who can play but he could see there was a need for some sort of response. I know the new players are shy but if they want or need the help then they need to respond otherwise it stops and the silence is deafening....

Thanks John, I'll aim to give that one a try in the next week - the test will be if anyone listening can correctly guess the song...!
And I know I don't always comment on your posts, but rest assured I really do appreciate them - please keep them coming :D Your help is hugely appreciated for newbies like me, though it takes me a good while to let any new teaching sink in.
Look forward to seeing you at Bulkington next week,
Sid :guitar: :guitar:

Also guilty as charged. And guilty of other stuff too! In fact, I look at the forum every day and keep hoping that there will be stuff to get involved in but apart from things to buy, (which is always nice!), usually nothing but tumbleweed. Will try harder, assuming there’s anyone out there interested......
Keep up the good work John!
