Lap steel controls

Hi Guys
I currently play a Gibson BR6 which I really like, but I'm thinking about moving up to an 8 string. I like to use bar slams whilst using the tone control to get that do wah effect, but being a little heavy handed I worry that I might damage the pot.
I notice that players like Tom Morrell and Speedy West have a tone control lever on the bottom edge of the guitar. Does anyone know of a lap steel with controls like this?
