Done and dusted for another year

What an excellent night. Thanks lads.
Having missed a couple of meets it was great to hear the improvement in the playing and tone. Donny's new set up, with the Duesenberg Lap, sounded just like Donny. It was a close call for the tune of the night, between Willie's 'Girl In The Glass' and Calum's 'Cowboy Medley', and the winner was the rambunctious Cowboy Selection, superb Calum

I would like to apologize for the delay in posting on last week's workshop at Gartcosh, it was a great night, good playing and good banter. Lord Donald of Newmilns had his new toy on display, suitably enhance by a third lever made by none other than "The Magician" Bob Adams.
Each player was to work up a Christmas tune of their choosing and one other tune, it is amazing how many people went for Silent Night (myself included, although I also played Winter Wonderland) but not Calum, no no he played You only live twice, because as he says you always see it at Christmas he he he, then for his other song he knocked the ball right out of the park, he started off with Ghost riders in the sky sliding into the theme from Bonanza and back once again to Ghost riders in the sky, and he nailed that sucked.
Honest to God I felt like going home and taking a saw to my beloved Mullen.
I don't know what it is but in Gartcosh we have some newish players who seem to be coming on a little too quick for my old head to cope with, we have Danny, Geoff and now Callum.
All I can say is ,lads give us old guys a chance.
All the very best for the ensuing festive season to all the steel playing fraternity.

Willie, you can still knock spots off us newbies fer sure ye've nothing to worry about

I've noticed a big improvement in all newish players, Robert is sounding really good these days on his dual lap, Davie likewise on his Shobud, Tony is getting to grips with the instrument very well now, Brenden played some nice stuff too and a lot of the improvements including myself are down to the oldies, yerself, Donny and Bob. That's the value of Gartcosh and it's also good fun.

Enjoyed it last week.
