Very quiet on here at the moment so,

This is where you can rest a while and discuss anything - doesn't have to be steel guitar related!

Yes John, these are indeed the ‘Full Fat’ versions. I wasn’t sure what kind of alloy I had acquired so thought it best to embrace a fuller figure. They’re not going to be pulling strings directly anyway. These are part of my AAT compensator project......

As Ron says it looks like you've bought a set with an International Taper holder for bigger milling machines.
If yours is a hobby machine it's probably a Morse taper, possibly a No.2 or No.3
Post a picture of your machine if you can and we can at least see what you've got. If you've got an instruction book it should tell you what the taper is.
You can buy individual collets that go directly into the spindle without a holder. That way the cutters are closer to the spindle and more rigid.
Some popular places for tooling are Tracy Tools, Chronos, RDG, Warco, Chester Tools and many more. Just Google them.

Looks like it's a Morse Taper No.3 Try the drill chuck from the tailstock, in the milling head and if it fits it's a good bet it is. Most of those type of machines have an MT3 tailstock. Don't take my word for it though as we all know, nothing's for certain.

Tony you are right it has MT 3 and I can put the milling bits in the chuck but don't know if they would be as secure as a collett?

Do NOT use a drill chuck for milling cutters John, they are not designed to take the side thrust that is put on a milling cutter, they are purely designed for the end thrust of drilling.
You could 'knacker' the drill chuck and there would be a fair chance of the cutter coming loose and destroying your job as the cutter is only being held on three points.
