Postby ZBSD-10 » Fri Apr 29, 2011 3:36 pm

Hallo guys (and girls !) :D
I had another stack of photo's from Eric Snowball this morning and in with them was a trade photo for
the reps catologue book a photo of a ZB Starmaker.
Now I thought I knew all the ZB's there was but this guitar excapes me, it is basically a Student model
upgraded with a dual coil pickup and two knee levers, have a look at the photo and see what any of you
lot can make of it , I never saw one all the time I was repping like a lot of steelies did back then.
Oh, also there was three personally autographed photo's of Tom Brumley, him and Eric got on well. 8-) 8-)
All the best

It looks like it has the vacuum-formed plastic top, same as the student models, but not the wrap-around aluminium frame.

Hallo Richard, It is some sort of variation on the Student, now it is an actual photo of the guitar and until I
can speak to Eric about it I can only surmise what ever happened to it. The photo's were taken in Maidstone so there
must have been a guitar there at some time so I wonder who has this one-off item ??
I also put the query of the guitar on the US Forum but have'nt had any response as yet. :?
Quite a mystery I think ! 8-)

I've never seen one of these guitars either guys, in the time that I was selling them for Eric. If there is one in the UK it is probably worth a little bit as it is unique.
Show Pro D10 (amber) 8 + 6, MSA Signature XL D10 (redburst) 9 + 6, Sho~Bud D10 (sunburst) Pro 111 8 + 6, Emmons D10 Push Pull - (black) 8+5, Zumsteel D10 (blue) 8 + 8, Hudson pedal resonator, 10 string lap steel. Telonics, Peavey & Webb amps,

Hallo Ken ,
You should be home when you read this, the photo's were from those sales books we had when flogging guitars
and gear for Eric which makes me suspect that at least one exists, One thought that crossed my mind , was it
a guitar that Eric designed and built but never marketed it ? I'll give him a call this week to get to the bottom
of it . Glad you had a great holiday but you are probably glad to be back in Blighty eh ?

Had an email from Eric this morning who confirmed what I thought, the Starmaker was Erics idea to have an
upgraded/posher Student to be made in Maidstone at ZB Guitars.UK. :D :D
It never got off the ground as Bill Sims, who owned ZB Guitars sold the company !
So, there is just the one out there somewhere and as Ken said, it could be worth a few bob (not Adams !), keep
your ears to the ground to see if it can be sought out !
All the best from a warm, sunny Corfu
