This might win the 'Sad git with too much time on his hands' award for 2018 but Geoff got me thinking with his praise for the Newman settings so I thought I might investigate what he's actually done. (just as a wee side project from my own tuning experiments.....)
Well I put his cents offsets into a synth for the open E major triad and measured the frequencies. No great mysteries going on here! It's straightforward Just intonation as credited to Ptolomy quite a long time ago! When you work out the ratios between the notes the fifths are 3/2 and the thirds 5/4. Perfect intervals and not a lot to do with equal temperament. Sadly while this will sound lovely in the major mode, it will be less so in minor as modes aint what they seem in Just! I feel a whole new topic coming on......

As far as hardware tuners go I own the Stroboflip and the Strobo Plus HD. They are both superb tuners and I am happy to take either to a gig.
