Underneath Dave's guitars there are bearings everywhere you look. He also has bearings in the nut rollers with hard anodised changer rollers. No grooves to worry about there.

As Derek divulged earlier, Dave has now changed the changer. :D The old changer housing was very solid, and in my view it contributed to the Sheffield's incredible sustain. The newer 'stealth' changer housing looks very cool, achieves the objective of faster string changing and above all retains that sustain.

Dave is a very deep thinker when it comes to innovations and modifications, and I've pulled his leg occasionally about the level of engineering that is incorporated into the Sheffield. Some would say that it is over-engineered, but Dave is not one to accept second best. If the guitar would perform better with improved engineering, then its a no brainer as far as Dave is concerned. He will proudly show anyone of his guitars, and is happy to show off the design features that are unique to the Sheffields. His guitars are not cheap, but Dave doesn't cut corners with his builds. They are quite simply - outstanding guitars.

I wholeheartedly agree with the Heading, and would add that he's a lovely guy as well.
