Aspiring steelie saying hello and asking a question...

Hi everybody. It's a pleasure to be writing this post to say hello to you all. I've been visiting the forum, occasionally, for about the last two years, mostly to look at the 'for sale' ads and think "If only..." Well, anyway, I've become a member of the forum so I guess I should introduce myself and say that I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with the website a bit more and also with yourselves.

I am 34 years old and have been playing the guitar since I was 10 and the mandolin since I was 18. I'm a bit of a Telecaster twanger and have played in various bands around Nottinghamshire over the years. I've decided to start saving to get a pedal steel guitar for a few reasons, the main ones being that I love the sound and versatility of the instrument, that I enjoy learning new things, and also that I think there is a shortage of steel players (in my area, at least) and I want to boost my employability!

I'm keen to crack on as soon as possible so I'm starting to save up but pedal steel guitars don't come cheap and I figure it could be a long time before I actually manage to get one, unless anybody knows of a retailer who sells them and offers finance?

I hope to hear from some of you soon.

All the best,

Geoff.

Hi Tony, that's ace, thanks very much. I must admit, it's not that often I find myself travelling beyond Leeds, but if I do find myself in your neck of the woods at all, I'll be sure to send you a message. Cheers! :)

Welcome to the forum Geoff, I'm quite sure you will get any assistance you ask for, they are a friendly bunch and I'm sure someone fairly local will jump in with help.
