Hi Willie, my Mum is back in Scotland now, I was just chatting with her last night trying to remember John's last name, she said he was a bassist who came after John Neary, so I reckon you're right, thank you! I don't suppose you have any recordings of Rodeo? I'd sure like to hear them
Btw, I'm surprised there ain't much session work for you, I thought a lot of the indie bands were getting into it these days. I reckon a lot of the newer indie-folk / alt-folk acts out there could really do with pedal steel, they just don't know it yet, or they do, but they can't play it, instead they're all just hammering away on banjos. Are you up on any freelance websites? I get quite a bit of work writing and recording songs through Upwork, mostly educational type songs for kids, and sure it doesn't pay much, but it's a lot of fun. Upwork is mostly for IT gigs and such, but I see gigs on there for production and session work all the time, I'm sure if you popped up a profile you'd get folks looking for steel players.
I'll post on here next time I'm heading down to the Ayrshire or Glasgow area and perhaps we could have a wee rendezvous, that'd be really nice.
