getting my gear together

Postby STEDDIE EDDIE » Wed Feb 02, 2011 11:56 am

Just returned in the very early hours, from my 7 1/2 hour round trip to the NISGA meet in Northern Ireland, that was in addition to sailing overnight from holyhead to dublin, the previous night, driving 3 hours to mayo, to collect Teds Sho Bud LDG, which he kindly loaned me, in order to go and collect my ZB Custom from Ted Nesbitt, who had collected it from Bob Adams, via ferry, [phew!] so i have barely slept in the last 48 hours, but now my travelling is done, the ZB has had its copedant changed from Day to Emmons and its undercarriage fixed up properly, and is now in its new home in the West of Ireland and the guitar drew a lot of attention last night, particulary for its remarkable condition, beautiful finish, and THAT tone, i joined the house band on electro acoustic for the second half, attempted to sing a few songs, while ted put the ZB through its paces, and it sounded great, Ted asked me to put up some pics of the guitar when i get a chance, im off today, recovering, just about to set up the ZB and put it through my Musicman combo which i just brought in from the UK, post pics later, :guitar: :guitar: :guitar:

Eddie we all enjoyed your company last night, and your vocals. Pity you live so far away, as we would love to see you more often at the club. The ZB sounded super, Bob done a great job on it. I hope it gives you many years of service. I had the ZB running through a Peavey Session 400 Limited and a Boss RV3, and the sound was CLASS, and the guitar looks a Million Dollars sporting a new pad.

Looks a nice bit of kit Eddie, the ZB is such a classic, love the colour.
Reminds me so much of Eric Snowballs shop, wall to wall ZBs.

thanks dave, its flippin heavy, but the tone is lovely, taking me a little time to adjust to the white fretboard, but it looks cool, my photo does not do the finish justice, i would have loved to have visited Eric Snowball's shop, Music Ground in Leeds used to keep a good stock of PSG's, when John Brady, a steelie, ran the department, i bought my first REAL steel there in 1990, a red Sho Bud LDG,

Eddie if that white fretboard is giving you a problem, either -close your eyes, or a better idea is- I do a bit of painting and decorating in my considerable spare time, I could give you a real good quote to come over, scaffold it, and spray it with my new commercial sparying unit I have just purchased, Ill dust sheet your house up first so there is no overspray, well very little. couple extra quid and Ill do that tatty guitar and amp as well, Ive got a few tins of black bitumastic roofing paint I need to use up.
Let me know how you feel (Im sure you will)
Dave.

ps. would i need to take the strings off first? would the bitumastic be applied as a hot mix? are you still taking the tablets?
