A really interesting interview with the Big E that gives an insight as to how he started playing steel guitar. For those of you who haven't seen this before. https://www.namm.org/library/oral-history/buddy-emmons

Just catching up with this. What an interesting snippet. He chose the steel out of respect for his Dad's love of the instrument. If he'd have gone for the 6 string I'm sure he'd be a giant in that field. Just a natural. Thanks for the link Ken.
GFI Ultra keyless S10 4+5 Emmon's setup + Sigler, Li'l Izzy, Hilton volume pedal, Roland Cube 80gx, Joyo American Sound Pre-amp, Behringer VD400 Delay Pedal, Peterson Strobo Plus HD and a brace of bars, Ben's, Ezzee-Slide, Pearse, BJS, SIT nickel strings.

He must also have inherited his mechanical genius from his Father, as his Dad was a Toolmaker at the Bendix factory. (they used to make washing machines etc.)
As we know these sort of talents are often passed on through the genes.

What a man, a mechanical AND musical genius.

p.s. Is there a full version of that interview anywhere?

I recall reading somewhere that Buddy's father helped him build parts for one of his pedal steel designs, but I can't remember if it was the push pull or not. I think it was.
