The Bardford Meeting 23/01/2011

Postby David Hartley » Mon Jan 24, 2011 12:21 am

Many thanks again John for organizing a great meeting.
It is so nice to see all of you. What a great set by Richard as always. Rod King and the trio was brilliant. Great to see Ted play also.
The highlight of my evening was Derek and Dave. Fabulous set.
That was most definitely the best I have seen Derek Thurlby play. I have seen him a few times over the years but tonight was top shelf by him in my opinion. There was an instrumental he played by himself, on the steel, about 4 or 5 songs into their set. I cant remember what it was called, but it was PSG playing at its very best. Was that really just a Nashville 112 he was playing through? It has amazing depth and body that I have never heard from one of those amps, if it was? Or was there an extention speaker cab.??? Well done to you all, I listened to all of you playing in the round robin and there is always improvement in all of your playing. I know it's only over, but I hope John gets thinking of the next one soon. I still think a BBQ in the summer would be good at one of these meetings.

Regards, David.

Good Morning David....yes the orange sticker!! ..thats what you get when you have a thirteen year old Daughter. I think she loves me really... (but you can never be sure :? )
Thank you all so much for making the meeting such a great success and especially for supporting my raffle for Togo, When I got home there was £104-83 in the raffle tin, I have made it up to £110 and it will go off today!! :)
I felt a little sorry for the silly sods that left earley cos they missed some amazing playing!!! (ain`t that the truth!!! :( )
I think the best measure of it was people coming from Ireland,Scotland Isle of Wight, and darkest Dorset!! all thought it worthwhile :)
Now I`m gonna lay down in a darkened room for a couple of days until I`m over it!

Wow!... What a steel meeting hey!... I couldn't believe how well attended it was... Ted and Ivor coming from Ireland, Bob from Scotland and Phil from the Isle of Wight.... made my 2 hours in the car look like walking distance! Great to see Derek Thurlby and Dave Kirk playing again. I remember watching these two guys playing at Newbury when I'd only been playing a couple of years... they were very good players 15 years ago. Great stuff! I have to say John (Stannard) on guitar and David did an amazing set... made me wish I was going to Dallas... Enjoyed a great chat with my old buddy Rod King; there's so much to learn hey! Thanks once again John for a organising another sucessful meeting.

Couldn't agree more. Well done JD. A fantastic meeting and such a great night for us beginners. Just a shame that I sat there from three till four thirty and no bugger came over to give me the wisdom of his knowlage! anyhow. Round robin was great. A great night.

I agree, great meeting, thanks JD. Oodles of great playing. If the round robin circle continues to grow, some of us will be setting up in the car park (by the BBQ?? :D ).
