I have to warn you, I'm a bit of an old codger myself, although I might be thought of on this site as a "young old codger"

I'm with Malcolm on this one, I mean why buy a professional model when you can build a real solid wood model yourself for a fraction of the cost. I've managed to uncover the truth of why Malcolm can't make the meet, he's secretly been building a homemade real wood steel to bring along to the next event

Here's the evidence I managed to get a hold of with the aid of a quadcopter.

Sorry you're not going to be there Malcolm, it would have been good to meet you. Hope you're recovering OK and hopefully see you at a future event at some point (If I survive this one ).

There is absolutely nothing wrong with those guitars that a good engineer armed with a chainsaw and a flamethrower couldn't sort out. Apart from an inability to stay in tune, I thought the tone from the Springfield was quite acceptable. This clip has been put on here before, and shows that Bobby Adams could not only play one but could also make it sound good. Apologies to Donny J for highjacking his thread.

Mr Bling, that could well be my old Springfield, exact same colour, sold for me by Uncle Gerry, that will show you how poor I was, am even poorer now, that this was all I could afford.

That Springfield was mine, if you can focus on the right side of the body you can see my name is still there under the varnish. I got the guitar in 1979, I never had a problem keeping it in tune and it sounded fine to me and, it still plays very well. I know they had problems but I enjoyed playing it. That's all I have to say about that.

Mine was the greeny/blue one,as per Mr Bling's pic, some of you may have seen it for sale at Newbury Festivals, got it from Stuart Logan( Donny will remember him), sounded ok but would not stay in tune, despite a few experts trying to sort it out.Like Mr Gamble said we have worked on quite a few for people, but always had tuning problems with them.
