That`s very nice Baz, and also very nice of you to go to that much trouble....... Major contribution ( compared to the rest of us ) What say the rest of you guys?????
I would like to say that Basil is sheer genius with his knowledge of music . After meeting him at the NESGF last August i realized after hearing him play, and listening to him talk about music , just how good he is .Hoping to meet him again next year. Regards all Derek.
Thank you gentlemen for the kudos, without which I would just sit down and cry !!
Joking aside the Blue Hawaii analysis and tab is not necessarily the way to play it, but more of an insight into the positional play used by one of the very Top players on the Hawaii Calls shows from the Golden Era of Hawaiian Music..
This is the way NOT to play it :-
I'm eternally glad whomsoever videoed it stopped the camera after just a few bars of Blue Hawaii..
Also the frightened Meerkat look is because my glasses were the wrong ones. As for the "No Pedals" remark, it was directed to an 'observer' just off camera.. I really love Pat's style of playing and could not do our GAS (Great American Songbook) and Hapa Haole Hawaiian repertoire without her playing.. I REALLY love her A augmented seventh Flat fifth Flat ninth..at 4:44 in the vid. (A7+b5b9) from the bottom string up, she plays Bb-Eb-G-C#-F-A Some chord... (Alternative name is Eb9b5, but that would be incorrect to use in this instance)
Oh yes, here's a reminder of the way it SHOULD sound, Barney Isaacs Jr (Alvin Kalanikau Isaacs Jr) of course..
