HI everyone

Just to introduce myself. Names Brian Matchett, from Belfast. I've played guitar for 40 years, playing mostly country music, but always loved the sound of the steel so have invested in a lap steel and a dobro to get the feel with a view to progressing to pedal steel. After a serious injury to my left wrist and not thinking I would ever play guitar again I tried keyboards but when strings are in your blood keys just aren't going to do it. Thankfully, I almost completely recovered but the venture into lap steel and dobro has got me bitten. I look forward to getting to know the people on the forum and benefiting from your knowledge and advice. Take care.

Hi John

Sorry I didn't answer your initial welcome when I just joined the forum. Thanks for your kindness.

You're the guy who had the green Bennett for sale, beautiful instrument, glad you got it sold, it really looked the part.

Bob Adams sorted me out with a Magnum D10, I have some experience with C6 tuning on Lap Steel but how it translates to PSG I'll find out.

Thanks again John, everyone's been so nice.

Regards
Brian

Hi Dave

My apologies for not acknowledging your welcome when I just joined the Forum, very kind of you.

I initially joined as a Lap Steeler but Bob Adams has sorted me out with my first PSG, a Magnum D10, it's a different kettle of fish.

I took up Lap steel due to the injury, I had a better recovery than the surgeon thought I would have but the Steel has really got a hold of me, wish I'd took the plunge years ago.

Thanks again Dave, everyone has been very friendly.

Regards
Brian

Hi Basil

I'm truly sorry I didn't acknowledge your kind words of welcome when I first joined the Forum back in April.

I've heard you are very much an Oracle when it comes to all things PSG, I'll be taking you up on your generous offer of advice as I progress.

Bob Adams sorted me out with my first PSG, a Magnum D10 and I'm working away at the basics of pick blocking and scales and having a musical background I know it's a matter of putting the hours in doing the ground work till the time comes to put it together.

Sierra Steels have beginners lessons on their website, taken by a guy called Joe Wright, no doubt he'll be familiar to you. Well I'm plodding along with him and Lesson 1. If you have any advice Basil I'm always listening.

Thanks again for your kindness

Regards
Brian

Hi all like Brian I too am from NI A place called Millise. I play some bass and a few chords on six string. Have time on my hands now and have always loved the sound of the steel guitar. Wife has just got me a lap steel and I would just love to take lessons. Cannot find anyone local so looks like DVD lessons. Can anyone recommend a course for a beginner.

Hi Brian Have you had any luck locally or are you still looking at Sierra. Would you recommend them

Regards to all love reading the postd
