No, really! I've enjoyed reading your thread, most of which goes completely over my head, as I'm a simple plank player of limited cranial capacity, and not one of those geniuses such as yourself and 99,99% of the BSS with fantastic foot-eye-hand coordination that play those advanced planks!
The anecdotes you shared (I love the drummer who wanted to play so badly! ) and the jokes (...stand-up ovation in a haemorrhoids clinic in Cleethorpes *snigger*!) are premium!!

Cross posting here and a point to Bob just reiterating what he already knows. Out of all of the guitars that I have seen played over the past 3 weeks, and I have seen so many I am just about steeled out, the guitar below had the greatest and sweetest tone of them all. No question in my mind at all. Complete with the chrome surround Lawrence 705 pickups which really brings it to life, it sounds beautiful. It has the brand on the front that has had the biggest kudos of them all for the past 6 decades. Designed (mainly) by the greatest steel player of all time.

It is not for nothing that the tone of these guitars is legendary, and it might play a little clunky, and be a pig to put modern changes on (still possible) but there is no escaping the fact that the tone is simply magnificent. It is the one that all steel guitar manufacturers aspire to sound like, but it is unique.

If I tell them that I will get a swift headbutt from them. Ivor Fittipaldi is a legend over here. I was stopped by a Highway Patrol Officer yesterday who asked me if it was true that Ivor Greenwood drives wearing a lead diver's boot on his right foot!!!!

I miss that old sod, and really hope that we can hook up for a lesson or two this year. He makes me laugh so much.

I am in Dallas Bob, at the Red Roof Inn in Irving. Just sorting out the suitcases and making my last phone calls on my phone card. My last night tonight, and then tomorrow I make my way to the airport, and once that rigmarole is out of the way I get my plane and back to Blighty. More rigmarole on the British side of things with my Carter, and then HOME!!! Wifey is looking forward to having me back, and then we are off to our holiday home in Devon with the dog for a few days while I get the jet lag out of my system. Then it's back to catch up on some jobs and get some recording done that I have been commissioned to do.

It's almost 1.30 pm here, and time to go for lunch. Might go for a last lunch at Cracker Barrel and a nice light chicken salad. Been a great trip, but I am getting on in years and a little tired from all the travelling.

Ken, using my old airline skills have checked the Metar for DFW, ( weather forecast for Airport) and it looks goods , sunshine all day with a high of 72, you won' need the Tenna for gents after all.

That would be great. I am sure that you would both love it. It would be great if you were playing here as you are a superb picker.

There is so much to see and hear that it just goes like a flash. I am hoping that Tommy White and Mike Johnson will be there next year. They have both told me that they really missed it this year, and Mike is going to try to keep his diary free for that weekend.

JD Maness on his old Emmons push pull is always worth watching and listening to, as is Doug Jernigan on his Zum. I really enjoyed young Austin Stewart this year. He is red hot and has it all.

If you can't make Dallas, try to get to Ireland. Buck Reid is already working on his material for future shows and some of it is mind blowing.
