How would a beginner start playing pedal steel?

This is where you can rest a while and discuss anything - doesn't have to be steel guitar related!

How would a beginner start playing pedal steel?

Postby bmorris » Fri Jan 24, 2014 9:18 pm

Hi, I'm a guitarist of 10 years, and have been writing my own instrumental music for a few years now aswell. Recently, I wrote some songs which sounded like a pedal steel would add a beautiful new dimension to them, and so decided to try and find one, but realised that they're not exactly easy to find. I would just order one but I'm always wary of buying anything without first getting a chance to check it out first. If anyone has any tips for starting, or any advice at all relating to this query, I'd be very grateful for any and all help. I'm based in Reading at the moment, but haven't found any shops here.

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Ben, you could not have come to a better place to find out about the steel guitar, unfortunatly, it's not that easy to just buy one and start playing it, it takes a weeny bit longer to get it together.
I live in Reading and have been playing for a while so I may be able to help, go have a look at this.

and if you are of the same mind to have a go, send me a mail, [email protected] and we can arrange a meet and go from there, regards,Slim.
