2013 North England Steel Guitar Festival - 10 & 11 August

Postby Tony Russell Davis » Mon May 27, 2013 2:04 pm

The website http://www.chanos-isgf.org/NESGF/ is up and running and there are some bookings already. Besides the organisers, Digby Hardy, Ron Kew and Tony; Donny Johnson, Pete Lindsley and Mike Eacock have confirmed, David Hartley expects to be there and Basil is a possible. (NB until it's amended, the "places to stay" webpage is from last year).
If you want to stay at The Buck please get in touch with them soon before the rooms are taken http://buckwatlass.co.uk/. Also there are other places to stay in the area and there's a Caravan Club "CL" within a hundred yards of the venue (with electric hookups etc) http://www.thorntonwatlasshall.co.uk/caravan_club.htm.
Digby will be in France quite a bit during the summer so get in touch with Tony if you have any questions, but don't leave it late - we need to make this one work.
This is a great opportunity to mix with steel players, ask questions, give advice, learn and teach, talk, play and listen to each other. Everyone can have a spot to play if they want, with no pressure either way. Nobody will make discouraging comments; the whole point of the festival is to help each other, whatever level of ability and however nervous we are, so that you take away much more than you bring. So, let's make this a good one and I hope to see a fair few of our Northern friends, this is a rare steel guitar opportunity in our part of the country!
All best to you, Tony :D .

Tickets booked, Tony. Now is it going to be Di accompanying me, or my daughter Ruth...? Looks like a great weekend break in God's country. My grandad was a Yorkshireman. Does that make me a temporary honorary tyke?

Don't leave it too late to book in for this event. I even have names of some guys within the North Yorkshire to Tyne & Wear area who want to attend but have yet to sign up. This is a rare opportunity in this region - don't miss it!
Also, for the more distant travellers, remember to get your accomodation sorted if you haven't already. Besides B&B, there are caravan and campsites in the area and you can get in touch with me to check distance/times from the venue.

Not long to go now. This was a great weekend last year, with no pressure on anyone about who could, and who couldn't what. Best fun you could have with your trousers on. Come and join us.

I Still don`t understand why when there is a steely meeting on we don`t have the date and time of it right up the top in the header...... For those of us that do not have their fingers on the pulse all the time it slips your mind until someone revives the thread and then you have to go forage for the date etc if you have a half interest in attending.....
PLEASE PLEASE can sombody make this happen... I am sure it would make a difference to the turn out ...and not cost a penny more :x

Usually for these types of posts in this forum I look at the date and "Sticky" the topic until the event is finished, that way it'll stay at the top. But since there aren't any dates mentioned in this thread I didn't do it on this occasion.

When posting events, if you put the date(s) in the post I'll sticky the topic. Even better, put the date(s) in the title.
