What instrument or amp have you regretted selling?

i recently sold my hilton low profile pedal, and went back to my trusty old ernie ball pot pedal, and you wont see me listing my hilton on sales of regret, yes i agree with paul, do a side by side comparison, and whichever your ears tell you is best, go for it, i fell into the hype trap as far as im concerned,

In the early 70's whilst playing with the "Virginians" (Virgins for short, but not for long) I bought a Hagstrom 250 watt amp and two Hagstron cabs with 15" JBL's. Incredible, BUT the band changed to Fender amps, Jimmy Byrnes the guitar player had a Gibson 355 stereo so he had two twin reverbs, Charlie Arkins the fiddler had two twin reverbs with two fender 4x12 cabs so I HAD to have something similar. I went for two Vibrosonic Reverbs.

The Hagstrom and the Vibrosonics I regret, but not the Custom, or the Burns orbit, Fender Blackface twin, Roland Jazz Chorus, or others I have TEMPORARILY owned.
I also regret selling one of my own home constructed steel guitars to someone in Dublin whose name eludes me.
I only ever made 3 D-10's. I don't know where any of them are..

Basil - last year I saw an immaculate Selmer Thunderbird in a London vintage instrument shop for £1800. They also had a Selmer Little Giant 4 watt amp (original price 8 guineas) for £298. Some of this vintage gear has appreciated pretty well. Early Vox AC30's and Watkins Copicats are fetching silly money. You have racked up some good gear over the years. Fender Vibrosonics make fantastic steel amps.

In the late 60's or 70's JBL bought out their own cabinets with speakers - 12" and 15".

I've never ever seen anyone use these, or seen them for sale. Anyone like to comment?

I sold a 70's silver face Fender Twin (the 135 watt version) in about 1999. To this day I regret having done so. It wasn't in very good condition (cosmetically) but I managed to get a pretty good price for it so I let it go. I used to play my steel through it as well as the six string devil. The steel sounded pretty good especially when mic'd up through a big PA and it saved me carrying two amplifiers. I now have a new '65 re-issue for six string duties. The steel sounds absolutely terrible through this amp. I'm not sure if the difference is due to the amp, speakers, valves or the fifteen years of playing and listening time I have under my belt since I last gigged my steel with a Twin.

I forgot to add the Hofner President that my dad bought me as a 14 year old in 1965. It was sold later to fund a solid Burns Marvin. I don't have any photos of it, but this is what it looked like. I would love to have it now to go with my 17 guitar collection.
