Ted, I would be more than happy to ship you a BenRom steel from Canada. No hassle at all my friend. I just shipped one to Norway a week ago and it went smooth as silk and the buyer is happy. I don't really know what some of my neighbors to the south are worried about. Maybe it's just the bit of extra legwork and the customs declaration to fill out
Jani Sandwich thanks for the but I am quite sure that Ted will be able to convey that msg to me if he chooses to do so. You must be a mind reader because there is a D10 on the drawing board as we speak. Aluminum necks, Black lacquer on hard maple and silver trim. I had so many inquiries from you and others about a D10 that I thought I should include it in the line ...
Hi Ted, long time no speak. There is a great way to receive guitars (or anything) from the states, it's called shop & ship from Aramex. You can log into their web site and for a one off small fee, you get a USA postal address and zip code which a US seller can ship to, the parcel is then shipped to your home address for a fee which is cheaper than normal shipping. I have used it many times as I am mostly living in Dubai these days. Hope this helps potential buyers. Cheers. Tracy Neale
Gents, when i was starting out earlier this year to pick up lap steel for the first time, I always ended up at the Thomann site in Germany. Has any one else any thoughts on them, I got good service? I got my Gretch from there having looked at UK prices, they were always more expensive and like you, I even tried US sites including Gretch themselves. Not interested in shipping.
Although I have never tried to buy a PSG from the U.S.A, I did have a thing a few years ago about Peavey T60 Electric Guitars and finshed up buying 3 from different sellers (albeit private sellers on e-bay) over a period of several months, and had no problems with shipping. My local parcel depot started getting used to my visits to collect them !
Back in the 80s, Mike Phillips and I picked up a vintage Fender Jaguar on our way back from Scottys convention and split it in two for 'easy' transporting -Neck in one case, body in another. Bit tricky with a Steel though !
