A very talented artist called Lucy Kitchen is releasing her next album in September (on which I was lucky enough to play on two tunes). She has released 'Lovers In Blue' early for people to listen to which has some Steel prominently featured!

Give it a listen if you're interested and support the album when it comes out - A good friend of mine Tali Trow produced it and I think he's done an amazing job.

Love it. Terrific voice and the steel is just in the right place.

Excellent work from all involved, Steve your playing and tone fit perfectly with what was required in the song. Either you or the producer have used the tool of 'less is best' to great effect.

Thanks for all the kind words chaps! Tali is a producer/engineer I work with a lot we make a lot of records together in various capacities. You're right to point out there's an element of collaboration Dave. This track is another example of getting to the session and never having heard it before so I needed to quickly listen to it, work it out, make a chart, and then chat through what we have in mind for the song (and if there are any specific bits that need special attention). I normally then have a couple of blasts through the track doing what I feel and then go back and target any specific bits that would give the song a lift (like I came up with that little ascending line going into the re-intro). In this song I came up with a low rhythmic idea under the string quartet at the end (I think it's a two bar rhythm against 3 bar section of chords if memory serves) something to slightly twist the ear in a (hopefully) pleasant way and not get in the way of the strings (which were already recorded when I got there).

Anyway thanks for being interested guys - I've got a few other things I've played on starting to come out in the next few months and I'll keep you updated if you're interested?!

Beautiful - what Ken said, less is more. This reinforces what I've always believed, there is room for steel in all genres.
